Button out-qualifies Alonso again    . It's 3-0 in Jenson's favor.

This year? I don't know...

McLaren will be back up at the sharp end of the grid but I don't think even they and Honda thought it would be THIS bad.

Positions 3-15 covered by just a second. Very competitive behind the Mercedes again. Only the Mercedes can be sure of getting both cars into the top 10 in my opinion.

I think if Ferrari don't get into the top ten it will be because they've messed up. They are definitely second best and it should be a formality, especially on the softs. They don't look quite as assured on the medium compound

That is rearranging deck-chairs on the Titanic at this point in McLaren's season. I don't think either of them care to much and wont until they get back up to making Q3...at least

It would not say much in Buttons favour if he did not beat his team mate after Alonso missed out all of FP3. Actually, with the little time Alonso had in Testing this winter and the fact he did not even take part in the first race I think he is doing remarkably well.

You do know that Alonso did not race in Aus, right? I dont know how it can possibly be 3-0, unless you are deliberately trolling, which I suspect is the case.

Looks like Mercedes will run one or two flying laps in a session and try to save the tyres for race.

I think he's counting Malaysia. Where both DNF'd before the flag. Which says it all about his intentions really

I was impressed with Kravitz (?) coming up with a reason to explain why Ferrari decided to run softs - other than the obvious reason that they needed to run softs :o .

Q3 maybe different as this is their race tyre, you dont want to damage them

If Sauber really is just an update to last year's car, that Ferrari powerplant has done them a lot of favours this season already.

Sauber are the most improved team in this young season, are they not?

Rosberg has to outqualify Vettel, if he doesn't he'll have even less hope of catching Hamilton

I was only listening rather than watching during Q1, but thought Merc qualified on medium tyres whereas Ferrari needed softs?

In Q1, yes. Q2 they all had softs

Or maybe he's counting Jenson against whoever is in the car? IE he beat Magnussen once, Alonso twice. And there is a rule about accusing people of trolling.

Thanks, that's what I thought.

It seem obvious that Merc are far better on the mediums whereas Ferrari are a lot closer on the softs?

Q3 will give us a better idea.
