I hope that's just a testing livery..... otherwise VERY disappointed.

I think I would like it - if there weren't so many other dark cars on the grid...:(

I hope they reverse the scheme for Melbourne.

I read on Autosport live blog that it might be testing livery. I hope they add more yellow before Melbourne.

Hopefully it is a testing livery, but the drivers' clothing exactly match the car.

Good thing they used the soft tyres for the presentation. Otherwise even less yellow.

I'd just like to point something out here, regarding black-based liveries:

McLaren - red highlights - super-soft.
Renault - yellow highlights - soft.

So who will take the medium and hard liveries?

Was really hoping for yellow and black like the RS01, not black and yellow. It's not bad, but indeed more of the same.

I think black cars should be all jet black, no in between with flecks of this or dashes of that. In modern F1 I believe only Arrows got it right in 1998. If Renault stuck with the black car, white text all over I think I'd like it

So they went "funeral black" in reference to their expected performance for the upcoming season - awful.
Lotus last year had the mercedes engine and look at their results, so this year its much likely going to to be a combination of bad chassis with a bad engiine, unless they improved both a lot, which I doubt.

White medium for Williams and orange hard for Force India.

And the magenta ultrasoft goes to...?

Lotus barely did any in-season development and they still finished 6th in standings. I think Renault can easily target 5-6th place next season.

With a few "if"s and "but"s though, not really confirmed. Also Autosport didn't say whether he was leaving the programme. Just that he would be given a role as reserve & development driver.

Well yes, in that case they have basically launched the team name.

We've had to get used to livery launches instead of actual car launches, now we have to get used to test livery launches as well?

The worrying thing is Lotus probably barely did any development towards 2016 either. On top of that they're losing the strongest PU. So I think you're being overly optimistic. I don't expect them to do much more than beat Sauber and Manor. Even Mclaren could be on par or better.

If the black and yellow was reversed (but the honeycomb grey remains) then that would be a stunning car.

Can someone do a photoshop?

Oh right, I just saw it as one and the same. Especially with Wehrlein still hanging around

Did I hear it right that the teams goal was to achieve podiums within 3 years?

Maybe it's a case of "under promise, over deliver" but, for a factory team, with their recent experience both as a race team and an engine supplier, that seems to me like quite a low bar to set.

I expect McLaren to be quite a lot better than Renault this year. Better chassis and better engine aswell.

No need for photoshop. Look at the 2010 Renault car and more or less thats it. Not really stunning tbh

Yes I'm a bit optimistic, but with more resources they can get quicker over the season. On a second thought, Renault might focus on 2017 season if new regulations are radically different.

Again too much black this is getting really boring and uncreative.
I hope they go for their original livery and not this junk.

Back in 2010 I would have thought that it looked really cool. Nowadays there are too many blackish/grey cars, just like there were too many white/silver cars 10 years ago.

They said this soon after the purchase of Lotus was confirmed, they have their own goals set for F1 and don't need to be buttering anyone up.

I remember being at a table quiz around 2000 or 2001 and one of the questions was: "Name the Formula 1 team whose cars are blue"
Predictably there was uproar

Alain Prost has said he is committed to Formula E and will have no involvement with the Formula 1 team.

http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/prost ... se-672180/
Quote:
"It is quite clear now that I have decided I won't be involved at all in Formula 1,” Prost told Motorsport.com.

“It doesn't make sense for me as I have a lot to do here in Formula E which I really enjoy and believe in."

The Renault has been spotted. Nose looks a bit weird - looks like it has a hole in it?

I don't think there is any hole there. I zoomed in and it all seems to be reflection at the front of the nose and below it on front wing.

I think it might be one reflection from the top and another from a pelican bill type area underneath... Or a hole. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Edit: I'm reasonably certain that the white 'lip' underneath is a reflection from the white logo on the front wing neutral section.
