Strange signing. He didn't exactly set the world alight in FR2.0 this year. Maybe there's more, we'll see. :)

I have a feeling he might be bringing some sponsorship to the team, because he doesn't exactly seem to be top-tier based on his career so far.

Jesus, I just looked him up. He's never won a race in a car and his karting record is poor. OK so he's only 16 and not going to be racing, but still. What potential is he meant to have? Has an F1 team ever signed a driver with a weaker track record?

Good point. Both have a horrible record but Jorda's is longer. I guess that means she's proved herself unworthy even more comprehensively!

He joins Celis Jnr at the team then, another driver with incredible talent "cough" money.

I think this quote from Mallya explains it:

"It’s also exciting for the team to begin working with a young Russian driver given the success of the Russian Grand Prix in recent years. It’s a market with huge potential for Formula One and the emergence of young talents, such as Nikita, will ensure interest in the sport continues to grow rapidly."

Translated - We get the Russian money.

Ah so he is basically a Lance Stroll mk2 but not quite as good thus far.

When I read the title I thought it would be a girl. Nikita doesn't sound like a boy's name.

I wished someone just signed Simona de Silvestro.

It sounds like something you'd order from a pharmaceutical company.

The former Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev would like to have a word with you. (if, you know, he wasn't dead)

Just read that they're planning to sell their stake in the team.

edit: by "the" I mean Sahara.

Isn't it the owner of Sahara that actually went to prison?

Gender equality in F1? lol

On a more positive 16 year old, I saw a review of UK (Or British?) Gt racing today..... and there was a 16 year old girl in there doing very well in GT4.... Far better on TV than anyone else being interviewed and managed an 18s lead in her stint in one race I saw ... they lost the championship by beiung taken out by the GT3 leader taking them out (I think, was busy at the time)

BTW, she has a "boy"'s name *cheeky grin* ...

points if you can guess it *cheeky grin* (tho I think the only girl so not that hard lol)

Have fun :)

You're right about Jamie Chadwick having a boys name, but wrong about her missing out on the title ;)
She and co-driver Ross Gunn won the GT4 title.

He has been taken into the Aston GT3 factory line-up, and she... hasn't.
Rather bizarre, as she was awesome last year.

I think Jamie is more of a unisex name like Lesley and Joey. Nikita however ...
Seems female drivers still need to prove a little extra to be taken serious.

Oh! I am happy to be corrected about the title. She was awesome in what I saw, very nice racing. Shame about the factory drive but she's still young. Fingers crossed.

Have fun :)
